Boehm system in Bb, low pitch
The Cavalier brand was a stencil made by C. G. Conn.
It is reportedly Conn’s student model, which was produced in large numbers for a relatively cheap money. It was very popular in school orchestras and marching bands.
The Cavalier metal clarinets were produced in the period from the late 30s to the early 60s.
The Cavalier metal clarinet has been serviced and plays perfectly.
It is cleaned and lubricated, new leather pads and new cork. It has even been polished. All parts are original, except for a few new rods and screws I had to manufacture.
This instrument measures 59,6 cm from top of barrel to bottom of bell. The bore is approximately 15,00 mm and the total weight is 652 grams.
The serial number is 10000, so there must have been an anniversary party at the factory…
The pitch is A=440 with a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece with the barrel 0,5 cm out.
This Cavalier clarinet has had a hard life. The body is slightly bent (very hard to see, especially in the pictures) and the plating is worn down in places. However, this has no effect on playability. The clarinet plays fine and everything works.
It is an old clarinet, and you might need adjustments for your own personal taste, like a different spring tension etc…
Unfortunately the clarinet comes without a case.
