The Legendary Selmer CT Bb Clarinet, professionally overhauled
Description:
Up for sale is a true piece of music history: A Selmer Paris “Centered Tone” Bb clarinet in fantastic playing condition.
About the instrument:
- Year of manufacture: 1955 (Serial number R4846).
- Details: Upper joint featuring the original Selmer factory star stamp just above the serial number, indicating it was custom-matched for optimal intonation.
- Wood: Selected high-grade Grenadilla wood
- Keywork: Superb mechanical condition – smooth, quiet, fast, and fully responsive
Professional Overhaul & Maintenance:
The clarinet has just undergone a comprehensive professional overhaul and is 100% ready to play:
- Pads: Hand-installed cork pads on the upper joint (for crisp response and durability) and supple, high-grade kangaroo leather pads on the lower joint.
- Mechanics: Fully trued and aligned, play removed from all keywork, tone holes leveled where necessary, and keys cleaned and polished.
- Wood & Joints: Cleaned, conditioned with oil, and fresh cork applied to all tenons.
Tone and Playing Characteristics:
The Centered Tone model is legendary for its rich, warm, and highly projecting tone – made famous by jazz icons like Benny Goodman, yet equally brilliant for classical playing or studio work. Thanks to this fresh, premium overhaul, you won’t have to worry about any repair bills for years to come.
Included: A sturdy case is included with the purchase. (Sold without mouthpiece, as most advanced players prefer to use their own personal setup).
Price: DKK 8,200 / €1,100 / $1,235
Can be tested and picked up locally [by agreement], or shipped securely worldwide at buyer’s expense.
Important Note:
Please “break in” the clarinet gently. I recommend playing it for around 30 minutes a day—and no more—for the first month. The wood needs a little time to wake up and safely get used to humidity changes again.
