Boehm system clarinet in Bb

The Series 9 clarinet was Selmer’s ultimate jazz clarinet. It was introduced in 1960, and if I’m not mistaken, Benny Goodman was particularly fond of the model. It is an extension of Selmer’s centered tone clarinet but with a larger bore suitable for big bands and jazz music.
This one has the serial number S0579 which dates to 1960.

The Selmer series 9 clarinet has been completely refurbished: Synthetic pads, new corks all over, cleaned, keys optimized and lubricated.
This instrument is made of grenadilla wood (treated with almond oil) and measures 60,4 cm from top of barrel to bottom of bell. The bore is 14,80 mm and the total weight is 725 grams.
The wood is good. No cracks at all. All tenons are intact. There is a chip near the top tenon though, see the photo above.
The clarinet is in perfect playing condition and plays like a dream. However, you might need adjustments for your own personal taste, like a different spring tension etc…
Important for this Selmer series 9:
I would ask you to “warm up / break in” the clarinet gently. Play for about half an hour every day for at least a month. Not anymore. The wood needs to be reminded that it is actually a clarinet and needs to get used to changes in humidity again.
Please note that although it looks pretty in the photos, it is not a new clarinet. both wood and keys show signs of wear.
